Gringozella!

17 Aug 2008

This is a goofy little 23 second iMovie we put together for Superdog Sunday. I had fun at my grandmama and grandpapa’s house and galloped around their yard. Unfortunately, we were not there on vacation, but because of my grandpapa’s recent stroke. I wasn’t allowed to visit him in the hospital because I am not a certified therapy dog. Currently he’s moved to an intermediate care rehab facility until he gains more function of his left leg and arm. The momma and I can’t wait to get a good old fashioned bear hug from him!

Stroke of genius

14 Jul 2008

Today is Momma Monday. Unfortunately, there is sad news to report. The momma’s papa had a stroke last week and is in the hospital. His left side is paralyzed. He’s such a cool guy, I wish I could go and visit him, but they won’t let me :’( because I’m not a certified therapy dog.

A stroke results when part of the blood supply to the brain is interrupted, usually due to a clot. Brain nerve cells require a lot of oxygen and when they don’t get it, they become damaged. A large area of the momma’s papa’s brain on the right side is damaged and only time and rehabilitation will tell how much of it was irreparably damaged. Fortunately, he was admitted to the hospital and treated very soon after the stroke occurred.

Now the momma and her brother are looking into rehab facilities that are close to family. The momma’s mama is visually impaired and will need assistance as well.
